The City of Calgary appointed BKDI Architects as project managers to facilitate the rewriting of the East Village area redevelopment plan (ARP) and direct control (DC) guidelines. The master plan for the area, completed in association with Jenkins & Associates, proposes a vibrant, sustainable community focussing on the public realm and the pedestrian environment. Design guidelines for this mixed-use, high-density neighbourhood outline how buildings meet the street, with residential entries raised above the sidewalks and commercial entries at grade.
